Named after the rugged mountain range in Italy, the Dolomites was designed as a do-it-all competition road tire. With a lightweight 60 TPI casing and dual-compound rubber, the Dolomites is at home tackling big climbs and the descents afterward. With our under-tread Silkworm puncture protection, the Dolomites can hold its own on rough roads.

The Maxxis Dolomites cover is a versatile cover, designed to roll on all types of roads. Its central part is very smooth, ideal for rolling, while the small side blocks allow to move safely in wet conditions. The tread cover has Silkworm puncture protection technology, for greater resistance to punctures. The MaxxShield technology makes the tire much more resistant to punctures thanks to a Kevlar band under the rubber.

SILKWORM Tech Inner Layer

Silkworm is an exclusive material incorporated into the casing of select models, increasing puncture and tear resistance. Silkworm is featured under the tread as a breaker.

Great fast rolling comfy tire

I like these tires. Most of my riding is on roads and gravel trails, with some dry single track. There are pretty good on the pavement, a little buzzy above 20 mph on the road however. They are very good on gravel, my bike has less room for wide tires than newer dedicated gravel bikes, so 35 mm in actual width is the biggest I can go. On my rims the 31mm size measures to about 34 mm wide. I run them with tubes at 60 psi on gravel, 80 on pavement. They are fast and stable on hard packed gravel or dirt, pretty good on looser stuff if I slow down a little. A little bit of wet dirt or thin mud is ok, but requires some caution

What should I consider when choosing bicycle tires?

When selecting bicycle tires, consider the size, tread, width, durability, pressure, weight, and riding style. Choose a tire that fits your bike's wheels, is appropriate for the terrain you'll be riding on, is durable and puncture-resistant, can handle the recommended tire pressure, and matches your riding style.

What size bike tire do I need for my bike?

To determine the size of tire you need for your bike, you can look at the sidewall of your current wheel, which will have the tire size printed on it. The size will typically be expressed as a combination of numbers and letters, such as "700x23c" or "26x2.0". The first number refers to the diameter of the tire, which is measured in millimeters for metric sizes (e.g. 700) or inches for imperial sizes (e.g. 26). The second number refers to the width of the tire, also measured in millimeters or inches. The letter at the end indicates the type of tire (e.g. "c" for clincher)
If you're unsure about what size tires to get or have any doubts about compatibility, you can consult your bike's owner's manual or contact the manufacturer for advice.
